Welcome to the school website for St Thomas CE (VC) Primary School, Huddersfield. The pictures above tell you the story of our school. We are now in our 8th year since we began life as St Thomas. Our school is located in spacious and well maintained grounds, with lovely green sports fields, outdoor learning, orchards and ponds, perfect for everyday adventures. Our outdoor changing facilities, Hunger Hut and story garden are located at the centre of the school site. At the front of our school we have our playspaces, trim-trail and our award winning community garden. The garden was designed by our children and created by our parents. Within the garden you will see a carved stone supporting the words 'Growing Together in Strength'. Our garden produces fruit and vegetables for our children, 12 months of the year.
Inside the school you will find a calm and relaxed atmosphere, where the children enjoy well cared for surroundings. At the heart of our school day is our bespoke curriculum which has been specially designed by ourselves to excite and to engage. The curriculum is enriched by regular trips and visitors, as well as new technology. Our children are assessed daily so that the teachers know what the children can do and so that they can carefully plan for their next steps. To find out more about our committed and caring St Thomas team, follow the parents and carers link to the staff page. Here you will find our senior leadership team and our proud staff. They are posing for you in our house teams, Valhalla, Olympus, Camelot and Atlantis.
The philosophy of St Thomas underpins each interaction, with positive relationships central to our provision. We support the children to achieve their best, using a positive mindset to approach all aspects of living and learning. This means that our children are developing and strengthening an attitude that will enable them to truly believe in themselves. You can read more about how we help our children to grow on our 'attitude and behaviour' page.
