Safeguarding
St Thomas CE Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff, volunteers and members of the wider school community to share this commitment.
All children in school are regularly reminded about who they can talk to if they feel worried, sad or upset. This includes the seven members of staff who are responsible for safeguarding children.
In school, all adults are required to wear an identity badge, which reassures all pupils that adults are familiar and safe to be in school. We encourage everyone to question anybody in school that does not have one of our badges on.
Our Safeguarding Team
There are seven Safeguarding Leads in school:
Mrs Meade is our Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
Mrs Goddard is our Acting Headteacher, Deputy DSL and PREVENT Lead.
Mrs Johnson is our Deputy DSL, Safeguarding Officer and Designated Teacher for LAC.
Mr Boosey is our Acting Deputy Headteacher, Deputy DSL and Attendance and Behaviour Lead.
Mrs Bade is our Deputy DSL, Learning Mentor and LGBTQ+ Lead.
Mr Bradley is our Deputy DSL and Pastoral Manager.
Miss Stoker is our SENDCO.
Everyone at St Thomas School is here to keep you safe and there is always a trusted adult you can talk to if you are feeling sad or worried.

This site primarily provides safeguarding information for professionals and volunteers in Kirklees. The site also provides information for members of the public, parents and carers, and children and young people, on some of the key issues that can affect the wellbeing and safety of children.
Operation Encompass

Our school is part of Operation Encompass. This is a police and education early intervention safeguarding partnership which supports children and young people who experience Domestic Abuse.
Operation Encompass means that the Kirklees Education Safeguarding Service will share information about Domestic Abuse incidents with our school PRIOR to the start of the next school day when the police have been called to a domestic incident.
